He asked me why I had helped Emily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I told him it was because I needed help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I told him it was because he needed it too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She laughed as if she didn’t believe me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I put the old card under the insole of the yellow boots. It’s a bit of an odd place, but if I ever find David again, I’ll give it to him. If not, maybe Rachel will find it someday and understand why we had to get rid of the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I stopped reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mia whispered, “Grandma put it there for you.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“In part”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Apparently, they are now owned by the family.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
