A man cried all day after a driver hit his dog and sped off, but by the next morning he had found the car and snapped.

The whole thing started when his daughter accidentally left the door open and the dog ran into the street. One car slowed down in time, but another came flying through the residential area too fast to stop and struck the dog. Instead of pulling over, the driver kept going. The dog died almost immediately.

The man was devastated, but as the shock wore off, the grief turned into anger. He went door to door, asked neighbors for footage, checked cameras, and spent the rest of the day trying to track down the vehicle. What hurt most was not just that the dog had been hit. He knew his daughter leaving the door open played a part in how it happened.

What really broke him was that someone had been driving recklessly through a neighborhood and then chose not to stop.

By the next morning, he had found the car. Instead of walking away, he slashed the tires himself. He was later arrested and fined for that, but the hit-and-run driver also ended up facing consequences, reportedly getting two months in jail and a year of community service.

Even then, the man said the driver got off too easy.
