Janelle Brown just introduced the world to the man who’s been quietly winning her over, and fans wasted no time comparing him to someone else in her life.

After years of prioritizing her independence, the “Sister Wives” alum confirmed she’s no longer flying solo, sharing a caption-heavy post about a chapter she had kept private for a while. The reveal comes nearly four years after her split from ex-husband Kody Brown, and it didn’t take long for a familiar face to react.

His job wasn’t the only thing that caught fans’ attention. Once the comments started rolling in, it became clear that people had a lot to say about how he looks — and who he doesn’t look like.

Janelle Confirms She’s Dating
On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Janelle shared a selfie with her new boyfriend on Instagram, officially introducing him to her followers. “Some chapters are meant to unfold quietly before they’re shared,” she wrote in the caption.

“I wasn’t looking. I certainly wasn’t expecting you. And somehow, you turned out to be exactly what I didn’t know I needed.” She closed out the post with a simple introduction: “Everyone please meet Pete.”

The post didn’t include many details about Pete’s background, but one thing did surface fast — he works in construction, a detail that was shared by someone in Janelle’s orbit.

Christine Brown Approves
Her longtime friend and former sister wife Christine Brown, showed up in the comments with her stamp of approval. “He’s such an awesome guy!! They are so cute together and he’s a construction worker 👷‍♀️ like David!!” she wrote.

The comparison wasn’t random. Christine’s own husband, David Woolley, is a Utah-based construction and drywall business owner whom she married in October 2023 after a whirlwind courtship. The two met on a dating app and tied the knot within a year.

Fans React – and Then Things Get Interesting
The support poured in fast under Janelle’s announcement. “The light in your eyes is blinding! You both look so sweet in this picture. I’m excited for your next chapter together,” one follower wrote. Another added, “Yes Janelle! He looks super sweet. Beyond happy for you 💕.”

A third fan gushed, “This is such sweet news! He’s so handsome and you are a beautiful couple!!! Yay!!! Praying all the best for you and Pete! 💗.”

But it was the comments under a second Instagram post featuring Pete where things got a little more pointed. “He looks way more normal,” one commenter wrote. Another was even more direct: “He’s attractive! A Step up!”

Neither commenter spelled out exactly what — or who — they were comparing Pete to, but longtime followers of the Brown family didn’t need it explained.

Building a New Life After Polygamy
Janelle’s relationship reveal marks a major shift for a woman who has spent years redefining her single life. She and Kody Brown confirmed their split in December 2022 after a 29-year spiritual marriage, but Janelle has always resisted tidy labels for her status.

“Because we never were legally married, I can’t really say I’m divorced,” she explained in a January 2024 interview. “I just say ‘I’m no longer with’ [him] when I explain it to outside people; I’m like, ‘I’m no longer with my partner.'”

She described her situation as “nebulous,” adding, “I guess I just consider myself single; I don’t consider myself divorced or separated or whatever. I just think I’m single.” Christine, by contrast, has always preferred clear-cut labels, telling reporters around the same time that she liked calling herself “straight-up divorced.”

Christine and Janelle’s Unbreakable Bond
Janelle and Christine’s friendship has remained one of the most consistent threads through the family’s very public unraveling. In a joint interview in late 2023, the two described a bond that runs deeper than their shared marriage to Kody ever did.

“My sister and I are very close, but we’ve had different life trajectories. With Christine? We didn’t plan it, but we’ve had such a similar life. We’ve done everything together,” Janelle said.

That “everything” includes marrying the same man, raising six kids each, and eventually walking away from their marriages within about a year of each other — Christine in November 2021, Janelle in December 2022.

The two have continued sharing holidays and parenting duties even after their respective splits from Kody. Christine has since found her own new chapter with David Woolley, while Janelle has spent recent years focused on what she called “reinventing myself” in midlife.

Sister Wife Meri Brown Is Dating Too
Janelle isn’t the only former sister wife to step back into the dating world recently. Meri Brown, Kody’s first wife, opened up in February 2026 about a budding relationship with a man named Ron, whom she met at a speed-dating event.

“I am happy,” Meri shared. “Ron is a really cool guy, very comfortable. I’m very comfortable hanging out with him.” She and Kody officially ended their 32-year marriage — which had been platonic for years before that — in January 2024.
