All stray dogs dream of finding someone who would love them and give them a home.

Flora’s dream was not different. The gorgeous German Shepherd puppy lived on the streets, but she had high hopes of meeting a family who would cherish her and love her unconditionally.

On the day when Flora was finally picked up from the streets and brought to Stanislaus Animal Services Agency in Modesto, California, she thought that she was one step closer to realizing her dream.

Sadly, that was far from the truth. Instead of finding a forever home, Flora was scheduled to be euthanized.

Flora Faces Euthanasia

Shortly after Flora was admitted to the shelter, she stole the hearts of the staff and volunteers. She was wonderful and sweet.

Sadly, Stanislaus Animal Services Agency was an over-capacity shelter where dogs usually stay for about a month before they are scheduled for euthanasia.

The shelter staff was overjoyed when a family got interested in Flora and promised to adopt her. They breathed a sigh of relief because the lovely girl wouldn’t stay at the shelter any longer and ultimately face euthanasia.

Flora’s adoptive family signed the adoption paperwork, and the pup proceeded with her spaying procedure.

Once Flora was ready to move in with her family, they never came. 

The heartbroken pup was left waiting in vain, and the adopters never called the shelter to explain what had happened.

Flora’s shelter friends and well-wishers were brokenhearted. They couldn’t believe that the adopters didn’t show up to take Flora home.

Unfortunately, the pup had to face a grim fate, and she was scheduled for euthanasia.

Fighting To Save The Pup’s Life

Advocate 4 Paws, a group of volunteers who network dogs who are placed on the dreaded list, decided to help Flora.

They were devastated because her adopters failed her and put her life in danger.

“… She doesn’t deserve to have her life be at risk and be failed by humans,” Advocate 4 Paws wrote on Instagram.

They posted a video on Instagram, explaining the puppy’s heartwrenching situation. The California-based group hoped that Flora would benefit from the exposure on social media and that her life would be saved.

They were convinced that the pup would make the perfect pet.

“This happy, cuddly sweetheart is ready to be your new furry best friend. She would make a great addition to a family with well-mannered kids and/or dogs,” Advocate 4 Paws added.

Indeed, Flora’s story received widespread attention and touched the hearts of many people.

The gorgeous puppy caught the eye of a rescue, which pulled her from the shelter and took her under their care.

Soon, the pup will start searching for a place to call home.

We all hope that she will fulfill her greatest dream of finding humans who will love her endlessly because Flora deserves all the very best.
