One of the most devastating parts of being a volunteer is watching dogs be overlooked at adoption events. 

Imagine this: you’ve had an amazing event, almost all of your dogs have found their forever families, and now, the only thing left to do is return the remaining pups to their kennels. I can’t even begin to imagine the heartbreak those overlooked canines feel.

This is exactly what happened to Bullet, the sweetest, friendliest Pittie who was surrendered to a California shelter. 

Bullet, who stole hearts and brought smiles during a recent adoption day, was the only dog left without a family. 

The reason? 

Bad luck!

He Deserves A Chance

Bullet arrived at Carson Animal Shelter in California as a surrendered pet. However, the thing that left his caregivers puzzled was the mystery behind his abandonment. 

His previous owners didn’t list a single reason for giving him up. They left the note blank and drove away, leaving Bullet homeless. 

Then, another shock unfolded. 

Bullet, who was thought to have at least one flaw, was in fact perfect! He was literally the sweetest pup in the shelter, with a genuinely kind and gentle demeanor. That’s what led his caregivers to assume that his previous owners simply didn’t want him anymore.

The good news was that, due to Bullet’s personality, his chances of getting adopted at the upcoming adoption event were high. But that’s exactly the opposite of what happened.

After stealing so many hearts and making friends, Bullet remained the only pup without a family that day. It was truly heartbreaking!

“You’re the only dog who didn’t get adopted at your adoption event,” Janallyn Vega, one of the volunteers, wrote in an Instagram video.

Jan’s heartbreaking video of Bullet being returned to the shelter in a tiny kennel broke so many hearts. People just couldn’t understand why this lovely dog failed to find his perfect hoomans.

But as it turned out, it was just bad luck. Bullet was great with people, kids and other dogs.

“2 years old. Owner surrender. Lived with dogs. Very people friendly. Good with kids,” Jan added in the post.

There was no reason for him not to be adopted, none whatsoever!

The Sweetest Update

The video of Bullet bowing his head in sorrow soon went viral all over the internet. As a result, thousands of people reached out, showing compassion to this sweet boi.

Many of them contacted the shelter to ask if he was still available for adoption. And, within just two days, something amazing happened! 

Bullet, the sorrowful Pittie, was rewarded with the perfect family!

Thanks to Jan’s video, his silent pleas were finally heard, and now he was on his way to a forever home.

“The update thousands of you have been waiting for… To be seen is to be loved. You were seen Bullet..& now you’ll never go a day without love,” Jan wrote in another Instagram post.

This heartwarming update is a testament to how powerful dog advocacy can be. 

Even friendly dogs have a hard time finding a suitable home without help or proper representation, and Bullet was one of them. But thanks to Jan and other volunteers, he now has everything he has ever wanted…and more!

From now on, Bullet will never have to worry about being abandoned again. His future is all about exciting adventures, love and endless playtime!
